This workshop is focused on assisting with understanding the equity provisions in the new Strengthening CTE for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V). Participants will explore equity gaps in CTE to identify opportunities for program improvement in equity language, learning about implicit bias and how biases are communicated. The National Alliance for Partnerships In Equity’s (NAPE) Program Improvement for Equity Process (PIPE) will be introduced. It uses data to identify equity gaps, explore root causes of participation in nontraditional career paths, and explores interventions of causes.

This session is a must for new and veteran CTE Administrators. This engaging workshop will address key topics, best practices, and relevant issues to CTE. YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION.

The National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity helps participants learn about, and be able to define and use, micromessages, exploring ways to help achieve equity in the classroom and improve student outcomes. We will learn how to encourage persistence through the use of micro-affirmations, and how to inoculate students from internalizing micro-inequities that deter students from engaging in nontraditional educational pathways and support student participation, persistence, engagement, and success.

This session will walk you through the first 3 months as a CTE Administrator. You will leave with an understanding of what you need to know to help you become a successful CTE administrator, including your responsibilities and timelines. This session is designed for CTE administrators who are new or have less than 3 years of experience.

Research shows that when teaching is responsive to diverse cultural norms of behavior and communication in the classroom, students have increased interest, motivation, persistence, and achievement. The National Alliance of Partnerships in Equity leads a process of examination, reflection, and action, that will prepare educators to develop mindsets to meet the needs of their students and implement curriculum that uses students\’ cultural perspectives and home/community knowledge.

This session is focused on the big transition that is happening on the Enrollment data collection and reporting beginning FY 2020. Change is good when you know and understand what\’s coming, what to expect, and what to do. In this workshop, we will give you a comprehensive overview that will help prepare you and help you get your data into the system the right way.

During this session, the ACOVA Executive Board will work with CTE Administrators to identify the current issues affecting schools which are important for the success of CTe Programs. ACOVA will partner with the Department of Education and other key stakeholders to support solutions for these issues.
